I want the home page to show all the links to the articles in a list, minimalist fashion. I want to integrate the blog (lots of shorter posts) into the home page, but not make a big deal of it, just list the latest blog post titles. I'll be continuously adding to and updating the articles.I want it to be elegant and seamless. Is WordPress up to the task, or should I use Drupal?

Wordpress is defiantly a great choice, it's simple as cake to set up and manage posts.  Pick up a nice premium theme with support and you'll run into very few issues being up and running within an hour.
