No, you should not avoid Japan due to racism any more than you would any other advanced country that's one of the top five economic powers in the world. The question strikes me as odd - maybe your real question is whether racism exists there and to what degree. Others have answered that well - I'll add that learning the language will help you live and be accepted and learn to love the country so much more than if you can't speak it. That ability would likely trump any racism you'd face.
