I've learned about quite a few subjects, even technical ones, thanks to video games. Off the top of my head, I can think of:
www.hsx.com (for a rudimentary understanding of the stock exchange)
Geochallenge (Geography)
SimCity
Gran Turismo (Driving)
Sports games - FIFA, Ken Griffey's (Sports rules)
Age of Empires/Mythology (History/Mythology)

These are all only indicative of what the field can teach you but it's better than nothing. Anything similar for economics and finance?
