Does Hillary Clinton have a mild seizure disorder caused by her concussion in 2012?

That was really abnormal. She did not lose consciousness, and presumably she did not lose control of her bladder, so it was not a grand mal type of seizure. Also, there was no “post ictal” type of confused state, she recovered quite rapidly. However, it could have been a partial seizure of some sort. There are many types of partial seizures, and certainly involuntary head nodding in that disturbing fashion could certainly be due to an abnormal brain discharge. People simply don’t make that kind of head motion voluntarily, especially when they are on camera. I guess it is also possible she was high or having a reaction to some sort of drug. If she has a substance use problem, she has hid it well, though, so that is less likely.

I recall she fell and hit her head a couple of years back. It is entirely possible that something is wrong with her. I would definitely recommend an MRI and some bloodwork.

She was obviously messing around, trying to divert attention away from answering the question. If you listen closely, you hear the reporter say “Senator Warren” right before Clinton acts that way. She knew the question about her V.P. choice was the number one goal to get answered by the media allowed in the room, and was prepared to brush it off. If it was recognized as a true seizure, her security agents and handlers would have done something instantly. They did nothing.

Notice that she never answered the reporter’s question?

There are over 32 types of epilepsy which include the most recognised convulsive seisures, however there are more subtle types- Migraines are distantly related to epilepsy.

If her voice was weak and wavering it is possible that she may have had a brief “Absence Seisure”; more frequently found in children, where they can either just stop speaking for a micro-second; and in many cases either stop in their tracks if they were day-dreaming. Slurred speach is also an indication of a seisure, but usually that slurring is over more than three words. At the other extreme you can have automatism, where the thought processes shut down but the motor messages from the brain means the person remains in engaged and the patient usually walks in a straight line, and in a robot sort of manner.

Epilepsy can be triggered by concussion, albeit delayed shock up to six months. However that cause of seisure can be triggered immediately at the time of the fall.

To that end unless you were actually in her immediate vicinity and witnessed it first had you will not know. Television and microphones can lie; and they can also be manipulated. So I would treat this with a pinch of salt; and seems to be more to do with headline grabbing. Leave the decision and diagnosis to qualified medical staff.

I worked at an epliepsy centre for two years on a head injuries ward and witnessed approx 3000 varying seizures. In my opinion from the video she suffered a mild seizure. Many patients on medication still suffered seizures like this, some on an hourly basis, without going into full Clonic, Tonic or Tonic-Clonic seizures. What the cause of Mrs Clinton's seizure is is speculation without her medical history. There is not enough video to assertain her pre/post-ictal phase. I've seen individuals lucid after mid range seizures and I've seen individuals sleep for a day after a similar severity. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the A2A, but I think I’ll demur from my normal opportunistic Hillary-bashing to point out that, while it would indeed be improper for her and her campaign to hide a possible disability from the public, there’s nothing inherently disqualifying about a seizure disorder.

I’m glad actual doctors have weighed in on the actual evidence, because that frees me from making a judgment I’m completely unqualified to make. I had a girlfriend some time ago who had occasional grand mal seizures. Those are quite unmistakable, and with her, the episodes would last close to an hour before she was herself again.

However, while such a medical condition might be of great concern in a helicopter pilot or a school bus driver, it’s important to note that presidents never drive themselves anywhere. They never operate equipment heavier than a Blackberry. In short, unless someone can convince me that someone in an epileptic seizure could somehow accidentally trigger the nuclear launch codes, I’m going to suggest that being President is one of the safer jobs an epileptic could take.

Actually, if Hillary has a seizure disorder, her campaign might have been well-advised to disclose it on good tactical grounds, rather than it being the right thing to do. It might have humanized her, and she could spend a little time correcting people’s false impressions of a disease that lots of people have while still leading normal, productive lives.

Or maybe they concluded that Trump would go into his fake gimp act way more often, and that it would magically work for him, the way all his other third grader taunts worked.

I had tons of reasons not to vote for Hillary Clinton, and they all related to her lack of character and integrity. Going after her for a possible neurological disorder feels like a below-the-belt sort of attack. I used to make fun of her horrible taste in clothes, until someone pointed out to me that it was totally sexist; after all, my preferred candidate, Bernie Sanders, hasn’t had his suit pressed since somewhere around 1948, and seems to not even know how to comb his hair.

Those convulsions looked sudden and real.

She seems afflicted by some kind of seizure disorder, which might be why she has avoided interviews and press conferences for a year now.

She has even been a no-show at the Democratic convention so far, choosing instead to send video appearances.

Based on the video evidence, as well as her persistent hacking cough, her brain surgery and subsequent six-month recovery, one can reasonably conclude that Hillary Clinton’s health is poor, and that anyone who rationalizes her seizures away as a joke is most likely dishonest, and willfully blind.

The trollery and bullshit speculation about this video was debunked when it first was shopped around.

NO, it's not a seizure. Yes, it's voluntary goofing around. Give it a rest.
