Jainism never forces anyone to follow its principles. Its upto the person's free will that he wants to follow or not. However Jainism also states that if a person will follow its principles, he/she will attain salvation much much sooner than the one who does not follow.
In Jainism, it has been told that even killing the tiniest creature is a sin and we should always try our best to protect them.
Antibiotics kills the bacterias in our body. So it kills life hence it will be accounted as a sin. Now its upto the person if he/she wants to have antibiotics or not. Obviously if he/she does consumes it, he/she will be attaining salvation much much later.
Now some might ask, “We breathe and that kills microrganisms too, so should we stop breathing?”
Breathing is a natural process that cannot be stopped. It is an involuntary process. Whereas consuming antibiotics is our voluntary decision which we have our control on.
Lord Mahavira has said to cover our mouth in order to protect those microrganisms in the air. Lord Mahavira has told the way how we can live without killing most microrganisms.
It also depends on our thoughts. If we feel bad for the death of microrganisms, the magnitude of sin of killing them will be much lesser.
