Does using a Mac raise one's design aesthetics?

I know it sounds crazy, but I honestly believe that Apple has raised the design standards of the masses. The fact that this company has successfully moved from skeumorphic dominated designs to flat minimalism is evidence to me that the public has started to learn to go beyond obvious visual analogies to appreciate symbolism, subtlety and restraint (which is kind of huge.)
