THis graphic indicates more than 51% of a barrel of oil becomes gasoline. I'd imagine that most all of that goes to fuel cars. Distillate fuel oil is diesel fuel and furnace oil, part of which is consumed by some cars (more in Europe than he US) and a lot of trucks and mobile machinery.  So in Europe, more diesel is made and less gasoline. So the fraction of a barrel of oil for cars is probably still in the 50% range.

This data changes every single day so it’s quite hard to give a definite answer that would perfectly describe the situation and would be valid for yesterday and tomorrow.

My data is centered around the USA fuel consumption. More than 70% of all the oil in the USA is consumed by personal vehicles. There are more than 263.6 million registered passenger vehicles in the States ( more than 25% of all personal vehicles in the world that are registered). Approximately 65 % of those 70% of already mentioned oil consumption is by those passenger cars. The fact that Americans prefer to use gasoline results in more than 9 million barrels of gasoline per day that are used. Astounding ! Plus, additional 14 million barrels of other oil used for transportation needs.

In my opinion, it depends to each country, because the cars usage of each country is different. Maybe if you want some statistics you can read it here

This chart says 51%
while, this says 47%

and this source Use of Gasoline - Energy Explained, Your Guide To Understanding Energy - Energy Information Administration says 45%.
So I'll say around 48%-47% of oil is converted to gasoline. However, according to the same source, only around 95% of gasoline produced is used for cars, SUVs and trucks. Thus, I would say 0.475*0.95=0.45125. Around 45% of oil is used for cars.

About 50% and projected to drop drastically by 2050 according to the Renewables global futures report.

See page 21 of the report for the details.
Depending on why you want this figure it will be interesting to see the change for transport fuels over the next 35 yrs.

57% of all oil consumed in the U.S.  is imported.
70% of all oil consumed in the U.S.  is used for transportation.
“The U.S. transportation sector consumes     about 220 billion gallons of liquid hydrocarbon fuel per year. Energy     use in the transportation sector is primarily for passenger travel     and freight movements.

U.S.              Transportation fuel consumption accounts for over 70 percent of              total U.S. oil consumption, and more than 65 percent of that amount              is for personal vehicles. American drivers consume about nine million              barrels of gasoline per day for personal transportation—378              million gallons every day—about              45 percent of total U.S. oil consumption.

The United States     consumes 20 million barrels of oil products every day.
