One cannot say for sure that Isha Foundation is a cult organization but it is certain that the characteristics of a cult personality are present in its head Jaggi Vasudev as evident from the following facts:

Jaggi calls himself a mystic and sadhguru. Through constant propaganda and media exposure he has been building up a god-like image. He ensures that posters having his photo are present everywhere. He sees to it that he frequently meets celebrities and those meetings are given extensive coverage in media. He consciously makes all possible attempts to create an idealzed and heroic image.

Jaggi has been claiming that he can solidify mercury at room temperature. This is contrary to our current knowledge of Chemistry. If he is really genuine, he should have invited renowned chemists and do this ‘miracle’ under their careful observation. If there is any science behind it, he should explain that science to those chemists. We may recall that when Puttaparthi Sai Baba was requested by scientists including Vice-Chancellor of Bengalore University to perform his ‘miracles’ in their presence he refused to do so and that way he was exposed. Since Jaggi does not arrange for scrutiny of his ‘miracle’ by chemists, then we may have to conclude that he is also a cheater like Sai Baba.

Jaggis wife died under mysterious circumstances and his father-in-law filed a police complaint stating that he murdered his wife, But. Jagg’s claim was that she consciously opted for Mukthi, which is unbelievable.

India had excellent Prime Ministers including Jawaharla Nahru, Lal Bhaghathur Sastri, Indira Gandhi and Vajpayee. But Jaggi claims that Modi is the one and only patriotic Prime Minister of India. When Modi came to power four years back, he predicted that the next five years would be prosperous years for India.. It appears that Jaggi’s intention was to please the people in power so that there will not be any governmental action for allegations made against him

Jaggi married, enjoyed sex and gave birth to a daughter. He conducted his daughter’s marriage in all the pomp and display of his richness. But he administers oath of Bramachariya on some young girls, and deprive them of normal life. He grows long hair but his girl-shanyasis have had their heads shaved.

Jaggi Vasudev has been making fantastic assertions without furnishing a shred of proof for what he says. He claims that our senses and intellect are not sufficient to realize the “Truth” and only through spiritual exercises he has invented one can attain a state of super conscience, which he has already attained. This is the clever trick he employs to escape from intellectual scrutiny of his mystic claims.
