What startup accelerators have a specific focus on education software or edutech?

For definition's sake, the program must:

1. Be a finite period of time (usually 3ish months)
2. Include an investment of cash into the startup
3. Be driven by heavy mentorship
4. Be a full time, immersive program. Not part time or purely online.
5. Have edutech as a stated focus (so not YC)
6. Be live with startups or be open for applications. The program must be launched or this list won't be very helpful and will just waste founders' time.

BTW, Imagine K12 has become a part of Y Combinator. Here is more information about this:

Also, I’ve updated the answer wiki, added some new ones, and removed what seem to be some inactive ones. This landscape is constantly changing, so this wiki may need to be revised again in a few months.

New edtech accelerator programs:

Inactive edtech accelerator programs:

  • 4.0 Schools - This program may not fit the strict definition of an accelerator program, as outlined above. The closest thing it has is this Tiny Fellows program, which is still in private beta.
  • co.lab - This accelerator is now closed.
  • Kaplan Edtech Accelerator - Their website isn’t working at the moment, and their Twitter account hasn’t had any activity since Aug 2015, so they may no longer be active. Or at least, not active as of this answer. Since there’s been no official announcement of closure, I’ve left it on the answer wiki and assume their website is just having technical difficulties.
  • Socratic Labs - I don’t believe this accelerator is active anymore, after the controversy in 2013. Their website no longer works either.
Casey Allen
