What gun laws were passed under the Obama administration?

The most damaging actions Obama has taken on guns have not been new laws passed by Congress but new ways of applying existing laws and “tweaks” to how they are enforced.

Thousands of veterans have been deprived of their Second Amendment rights and the administration is trying to do the same to some people receiving Social Security benefits.

Obama has decreed that individuals "in the business of selling firearms" register as licensed gun dealers, but has not defined what “in the business” means. No one now knows how many guns it’s permissible to sell before being considered “in the business” and it allows the BATF to pick and choose who they prosecute. After arguing that people who sell a “large number” of guns be considered dealers one recent White House press release now suggests it could be as few as two. Instead of prosecutions being based on law they’re based on the whim of a notoriously corrupt agency.

Obama Executive Order May Require Those Selling Even a Single Firearm to Become Licensed Dealers

Obama banned the return to America of old U.S. military M1 Garand and M1 Carbine rifles from WWII and Korea. These rifles are of great interest to shooters, reenactors, and collectors, and of absolutely no interest to criminals.

Obama has relaxed HIPPA privacy laws and made it possible for healthcare providers send medical information to the government without a patient’s consent, to remove “unnecessary legal barriers” protecting privacy.

He has made the already onerous rules even more so for law abiding people buying already highly regulated NFA firearms and suppressors.

So you see, even though Obama has not been able to get new gun control laws through Congress as required by that pesky Constitution, it hasn’t stopped him from, well….making new laws.
