Answer Wikis allow the entire Quora community to collaborate on an answer summary or an aggregated answer for a particular question. Summaries synthesize the different points of views articulated in answers on that question and impartially articulate leading perspectives with justification. Aggregated answers aim to be a comprehensive collection of uncontroversial, factual information.
Answer Wiki is one of the most exciting under-utilized features on Quora.
It is a way to consolidate and summarize a collection of individual answers into a single consensus answer that anyone can edit. It's the Quora equivalent of a Wikipedia listing, with the benefit of being able to compile individual contributions before compiling into a single answer.
It is a user-editable summary of all of the answers to the question. It is not a place for an original answer, nor for declaring that one or another answer is the "right" one. Instead, it is intended to make it easier for some looking for a quick, generally accepted, broad-brush response than having to read a dozen or more lengthy individual answers.
They tend to work best in the following types of cases:
Where most of the answers are suggesting specific names of books, movies or people
Where there are lots of long winded answers all saying essentially the same thing
Where there are lots of long winded answers each suggesting a different thing
Anyone is able to edit (or create) the AnswerWiki for any question, but if not done objectively and accurately, it will definitely be reported to Quora Moderation.
Answer wiki is a neutral summary of the answers that were provided for the question. Anybody can create an answer wiki for a question (including people who are not following the question). It can also contain details not present in any of the answers.
