The following quotations are from transcriptions of Hitler's conversations with his personal secretary Martin Bormann. Bormann was with Hitler in his bunker in the Battle of Berlin, and one of the witnesses to the signing of Hitler's Last Will and his marriage to Eva Braun on April 29th, 1945. Bormann was also present in the cremation of Adolf and Eva on April 30th.

From this document I've quoted the passages which show Hitler's opinions on Indian, Chinese, African and Arab peoples months before his death.

*I've also added some additional quotations from earlier dialogs.

1942, June
It angers one to think that, while in other parts of the globe religious teaching like that of Confucius, Buddha and Mohammed offers an undeniably broad basis for the religious-minded, Germans should have been duped by a theological exposition devoid of all honest depth.

to tell the truth, I feel much more sympathetically inclined to the lowliest Hindu than to any of these arrogant islanders (Britain)

In them (Asians), the white races have imposed their will by force, and the influence they have had on the native inhabitants has been negligible; the Hindus have remained Hindus, the Chinese have remained Chinese, and the Moslems are still Moslems. There have been no profound transformations, and such changes as have occurred are less marked in the religious field, notwithstanding the tremendous efforts of the Christian missionaries, than in any other. There have been a few odd conversions the sincerity of which are open to considerable doubt-except, perhaps in the case of a few simpletons and mentally deficients. The white races did, of course, give some things to the natives, and they were the worst gifts that they could possibly have made, those plagues of our own modern world-materialism, fanaticism, alcoholism and syphilis. For the rest, since these peoples possessed qualities of their own which were superior to anything we could offer them, they have remained essentially unchanged

colonization is not an activity which Germans feel called upon to pursue, Germany should never make common cause with the colonizing nations and should always abstain from supporting them in their colonial aspirations.

"Pride in one's own race - and that does not imply contempt for other races - is also a normal and healthy sentiment. I have never regarded the Chinese or the Japanese as being inferior to ourselves. They belong to ancient civilizations, and I admit freely that their past history is superior to our own. They have the right to be proud of their past, just as we have the right to be proud of the civilization to which we belong. Indeed, I believe the more steadfast the Chinese and the Japanese remain in their pride of race, the easier I shall find it to get on with them."

Never, at any price, should we have put our money on France and against the peoples subjected to her yoke. On the contrary, we should have helped them (Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Ivory Coast, Sudan, Guinea, Mauritania, Niger, Senegal, Upper Volta, Togoland, Chad, Oubangui-Chari, Congo, Cameroon, Madagascar, Lebanon, Syria ) to achieve their liberty

Had we been on our own, we could have emancipated the Moslem countries dominated by France; and that would have had enormous repercussions in the Near East, dominated by Britain, and in Egypt. But with our fortunes linked to those of the Italians, the pursuit of such a policy was not possible. All Islam vibrated at the news of our victories. The Egyptians, the Irakis and the whole of the Near East were all ready to rise in revolt. Just think what we could have done to help them, even to incite them, as would have been both our duty and in our own interest! But the presence of the Italians at our side paralysed us; it created a feeling of malaise among our Islamic friends, who inevitably saw in us accomplices, willing or unwilling, of their oppressors. For the Italians in these parts of the world are more bitterly hated, of course, than either the British or the French. The memories of the barbarous, reprisals taken against the Senussi are still vivid. Then again the ridiculous pretensions of the Duce to be regarded as The Sword of Islam evokes the same sneering chuckle now as it did before the war. This title, which is fitting for Mahomed and a great conqueror like Omar, Mussolini caused to be conferred on himself by a few wretched brutes whom he had either bribed or terrorized into doing so. We had a great chance of pursuing a splendid policy with regard to Islam. But we missed the bus, as we missed it on several other occasions, thanks to our loyalty to the Italian alliance!

He (Roosevelt) had done all in his power to provoke the Japanese...they (America) were more obsessed than ever with the idea of the Yellow Peril.

Had Fate so willed that the President of the United States during this critical period were someone other than Roosevelt, he might well have been a man capable of adapting the American economy to the needs of the twentieth century and of becoming the greatest President since Lincoln.

I am sure that the Japanese, the Chinese and the peoples of Islam will always be closer to us than, for example, France, in spite of the fact that we are related by blood.

I've also found some photos of Hitler interacting with non-white people and added the context of their meeting.

June 1937
Hitler receives the Finance Minister of China, Dr. Kung (a direct descendant of Confucius) at his villa in the Berchtesgadener Alpen. 100 million Reichsmarks were loaned to China.

Hitler bows with the Chinese delegation

December 1941
Hitler meets with Haj Amin al-Husseini, the leader of the Supreme Muslim Council under British controlled Palestine.

May 29, 1942
Hitler meets Subhas Chandra Bose, leader of the Indian National Army which fought against British colonial rule.

The 'Free India' army had been formed by Germany, initially made up of Indian POW's fighting for Britain, they would be trained for the fight against British rule in India. Subhas Chandra Bose's visit inspired the enlistment of Indian expatriates in Germany. There are conflicting sources on how the meeting went between these two men.

One of the legionaries of the Free India Army, Shantaram Vishnu Samanta, claims that Hitler gave the following address to them:

You (Indians) are fortunate having been born in a country of glorious cultural traditions and a colossal manpower. I am impressed by the burning passion with which you and your Netaji seek to liberate your country from foreign domination. Your Netaji's status is even greater than mine. While I am the leader of eighty million Germans, he is the leader of 400 million Indians. In all respects he is a greater leader and a greater general than myself. I salute him, and Germany salutes him. It is the duty of all Indians to accept him as their führer and obey him implicitly. I have no doubt that if you do this, his guidance will lead India very soon to freedom.
*The source for this last quote is Sopan, pseud., Ed., Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. His Life and Work., Bombay, Azad Bhandar, 1946, pp. 281-282, 284. I am looking for further verification from another source, such as other legionnaires or Germans that were present as it seems 'too good to believe' and could just be an exaggeration from an old soldier.

**Keep in mind that these quotes come from the last days of his life. Years earlier Hitler had a typical European Imperialist view of India and there are plenty of quotations of him from his earlier years talking about non-Germans in a disdainful manner.

Hitler's goals were to 1) unite all Germanic people, 2) acquire living space (Lebensraum) for them, and 3) rid the German area of 'sub-human' races in order to maintain Germanic racial purity.

He believed he could do this by pulling all people of German ancestry together under one leadership (which he mostly did); capturing lands to the east that were occupied by Slavs; and clearing those lands of undesirables, however defined.

He believed that if he could push Slavs out of all areas west of the Urals, permanently, there would be sufficient land for all Germans for the foreseeable future. If a growing population in the future required more land, that could be addressed in the future. He had no plans for the the conquest of the globe.

That said, he was not averse to having German colonies scattered around the globe, creating a presence to be exploited if that future demand developed. He was not terribly interested in those colonies though -- other than as German possessions -- and didn't make any efforts to expand them. He barely made efforts to defend them.

As far as the other 'races' went... well, Hitler and the Nazis were inconsistent and working from something akin to science, but not science.

They subscribed to a view about race that is considered archaic -- at best -- today. Strongly influenced by the growing science of linguistics (and perversions of Darwin's theory of evolution), they felt that the Aryan was the pinnacle of mankind and civilization. Beneath that were other Europeans like Italians, French, Spanish, and Greeks. Lower still, but still within the greater Aryan fold, were Iranians and Indians, all of whom spoke Indo-European (or, as they were then called, Aryan) languages. Non-Aryan 'races' -- Hungarians, Turks -- were lower down the ladder.

African Blacks were the utter nadir, but there were very few Blacks among the Germanic populations at the time. During WWII, French colonial troops, who were Black, were often summarily executed when captured. Germany undertook the first modern genocide in dealing with the Herero people in SW Africa at the turn of the 20th C., though this was in the pre-Nazi era, of course.

Hitler had particular animus toward Slavs, even though they, too, spoke Aryan languages. Perversely, the Nazis would often 'rescue' Slavic children who looked 'Nordic' and ship them off to German to be raised in foster, German homes.

Among the worst crimes/sins for the Nazis was willful mixing of the races. Germans who had married or even had affairs with people of inferior races were sometimes treated as though they were members of those race.

Arabs were seen as highly dubious; their language, after all, was Semitic. This did not prevent him from using them politically, of course, because they weren't in any land he was particularly interested in at the time. They might become a problem in the future, because they were sitting on oil, but through WWII, they could be allied.

Nazi racial theories about Asians was never really clear. While there was admiration of the Japanese (and Koreans) as a 'master race', Chinese were considered untermenschen. I don't think theorizing reached as far as considering, say, the Thais or Vietnamese. As they were so distant from Germany, the Nazis generally left their fate to the racism of Japan.

There are hundreds of books and scholarly articles written about Nazi racial theory. I'd suggest starting at Wikipedia and following the references to get a start at delving into them.

I'd like to add something to this.

Hitler viewed the Japanese with respect as they were a society and culture that he wanted to achieve for his own people.  You can even see evidence today where the Japanese culture is still quite xenophobic.

I am of Japanese decent, however, I remember my family telling me how evil the Japanese people were during WWII.  Being Japanese myself, it resonates even more.  Keep in mind that my family moved to North America at the turn of the century, so they had a different viw on things.

I believed Hitler viewed the Japanese as being efficient with its own people and discarded inefficiencies by not having a multi-cultural element.

There were even special visas issued to Japanese diplomats.

Also, Hitler had no interest in that side of the world.  It would be nice to have an ally over in Asia.

The last point is one that I don't think people really know about - the fact that up until WWII, Japan had NEVER EVER lost a war.  Actually even today, they won't admit to losing the second world war.

Adolf Hitler was of course crazy and anyone stupid enough to trust his words would regret it. He believed that a superior race came from Atlantis: so if you weren't from that particular lost continent then you were out of luck.

There is no doubt that Hitler hated blacks. He described them as "semi-apes" in Mein Kampf. Blacks were sterilised very early on---apologists for Nazism should look at their genocidal approach to colonialism---there were no Gandhis in the German colonies---protestors armed, unarmed, men, women and children were just gunned down.
The first people to be used in experiments were black.

The Chinese lost horrendous numbers in WWII--Hitler certainly didn't care enough about them to fight the Japanese.

It is quite simple if you were Caucasian you might live---everyone else was going to die.

Hitler did not count on the courage of the British people and Britain's loyal empire. Who would never surrender

Fascism must be fought. It is an insane ideology and Hitler was it's most insane exponent.

I find it rather sad that anyone could pretend the horror of Nazism would not have involved the genocide of all the races.
