What's the working system for the forest app to plant real trees?
For example, if I pay the 2500 virtual coins to plant a tree in Zambia, how can the real planters cover their real cost? And if the number of planted trees rigidly corresponds with the coins we paid for them, does that mean there could have been more trees with volunteers working as much as that want? PS. As a language learner I may have made some grammar mistakes. Please correct them for me, thanks.
Hello, I'm the developer of Forest. Here is how it works:
We prepaid and preordered thousands of real trees from WeForest, the tree-planting organization we cooperate with, for Forest users to plant real trees. When a user purchases a real tree with their virtual coins, we inform WeForest of it via the API they provided so that WeForest will plant a real tree. Due to the limited budget of this activity, the number of real trees we can donate to plant is limited. That's why it is time-limited and isn't cheap in virtual coins. So far, we have ordered thousands of real trees from WeForest. We think it will take a while for all Forest users to reach the amount. After the amount is reached, we will consider whether to keep this activity going.
