Pixel Terms of Use

Last updated: October 24, 2019

The following Pixel Terms of Use (“Pixel Terms”) are supplemental terms to the Advertising Terms of Service (“Advertising Terms”) between you and Quora. The Pixel Terms expressly are incorporated into the Advertising Terms. When you activate our Pixels, you agree to be bound by the Pixel Terms. All capitalized terms used in the Pixel Terms have the same meaning as defined in the Advertising Terms.

1. Quora may provide you with insights about the effectiveness of your ads or the use of your websites/apps in accordance with our Privacy Policy via the Pixel Data received from you. Quora will use Pixel Data for ad or content optimization only after such Pixel Data has been aggregated with other data collected from other advertisers or third parties or otherwise collected on Quora. If you choose to submit customer information as part of your Pixel Data, you agree to the List Match Audience Terms.

2. Unless we have your permission or are required to do so by law, we will not disclose Pixel Data to other advertisers or to third parties in a way that reasonably identifies you. Quora will maintain the confidentiality and security of Pixel Data while it is within Quora's systems and guard against the accidental or unauthorized access, use, alteration or disclosure of data within Quora's systems.

3. You (or your data providers) have provided robust and sufficiently prominent notice to your users and have obtained any necessary consent from your users or otherwise established lawful basis for the Pixel Data collection, sharing and usage enabled by your use of the Pixels. This must include at a minimum: (i) a clear explanation that third parties, including Quora, may use cookies, web beacons, and other storage technologies to collect or receive information from your websites and elsewhere on the internet and use that information to provide measurement services and target ads, (ii) information on how users can opt-out of the collection and use of information for ad targeting, and where relevant, (iii) how and where a user can access a mechanism for exercising such choice (e.g. providing links to http://www.aboutads.info/choices and Your Online Choices | EDAA), and (iv) consent, rights clearance, or lawful basis to share any other customer data that you elect to pass to Quora through the Pixels.

Your disclosure notice must be clear and prominent to your end users as follows:

Websites: you will place a clear and prominent notice on each webpage where Pixels are used that links to a clear explanation.

Apps: you will include a clear and prominent link that is easily accessible inside your app settings or any privacy policy and from within any store or website where your app is distributed that links to a clear explanation.

In addition, in jurisdictions that require informed consent for the storing and accessing of cookies or other information on an end user's device (such as but not limited to the European Union), you must ensure, in a verifiable manner, that you obtain an end user's consent before you use Pixels that enable Quora to store and access cookies or other information on the end user's device.

4. Quora may choose to include notice in or around your advertisements explaining that the ad is targeted and you will not modify, obscure, or otherwise interfere with these notices, including any technical components that enable users to access additional information or choice mechanisms.

5. You will not share information with us that you know or reasonably should know is from or about children under the age of 13 or that includes health, financial, or other categories of sensitive information (including any information defined as sensitive under applicable law).

6. You will not combine any information obtained in connection with your use of the Pixels with personally identifiable information for any purpose.

7. You may discontinue your use of the Pixels at any time. In addition, Quora reserves the right to modify, suspend, or terminate access to or discontinue at any time the availability of our Pixels.

8. If you are using any of these features on behalf of a third party, you also represent and warrant that you have the authority as agent to such party to use such features on their behalf and will bind such party to these terms. You likewise represent that you have the authority to bind your own organization to these terms.
